What Did You Sell This Week?

Russ Jacketti, vice president of sales for WJS Enterprises in Metairie and Baton Rouge, LA describes his dealership’s most notable sale of the past week.

What was your most notable sale this week?

Jacketti: We placed four Lexmark XS796 50-ppm color A4 machines with finishers. It was a nice order, especially when you’re talking 50-ppm color whether it’s A4 or A3. It was nice to be able to go into the account and talk with them about whether they should go with an A4 piece of equipment or A3.

Who bought it?

Jacketti: A non-profit.

Why did the customer choose it?

Jacketti: This was the perfect fit for the A3, it gave them the speed, the quality, and the connectivity because they wanted it to do more than just print; they wanted to integrate it with some other software they had. It just turned out to be a perfect fit. If [it didn’t integrate with the software] it would be a deal loser if it couldn’t do it.

How long did this sale take to close and the sale?

Jacketti: It only took a couple of weeks. This ties back to A3 versus A4. Quite frankly, if we had gone in with a 50-ppm A4 unit, you know what that would have run fully connected with finishers and everything? You end up having to go through a lot more layers of bureaucracy getting an order of that nature approved than you do with one that’s about a third of the cost.
