If acquisitions are a trend then the big trend this week is the news story that Photizo Group has purchased Lyra Research creating what some may call a consulting and market research powerhouse. I’m not sure anyone saw this coming and while some may say this isn’t that big of a story I have to disagree as this is another example of consolidation within the industry even if there wasn’t a whole lot of overlap between what the two organizations were doing prior to the acquisition. Being part of the press/analyst contingent at industry events it was only a matter of time before an over-crowded consulting/analyst community started consolidating, particularly those organizations who are competing for dollars from the OEMs. C’mon now, there’s only so many dollars to go around. Scroll down below to read the January News Bytes item on the acquisition.
Meanwhile, the trends just keep on trending this week with three stories focused on services and a piece on leasing that explores how this new services-based environment is affecting dealers’ funding options.
