Xerox authorized agent holds place as largest dealer in Southeast
Memphis, TN — When Bob Hamilton started selling office equipment in 1975 at Tom Lawler’s Office Outfitters in Jackson, TN, he had no idea that years later he would start a company that would become the leading Xerox distributor in the Southeast and second-leading distributor in the nation. Now, 41 years after he entered this industry, Hamilton has directed a large amount of growth and change, all led by following the needs of his customers.
In 1991, Hamilton opened the first XMC office in Memphis and had one employee, Ben McCaghren, who later became a partner. Today, XMC has more than 80 employees and nine offices throughout the Southeast, providing service to areas in five states: Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas and Alabama.
“When I think about our 25th anniversary, I think about the past, yes, but I get more excited about the future,” said Hamilton. “Technology is advancing, and we are moving forward with it. From projection systems to welcome centers, we are doing all we can to make sure our customers have what they need. We are not afraid to change our product offerings based on our customer base. Our customers are our focus.”
Hamilton’s efforts have led to many successes with the Xerox Corporation. XMC was nominated for the small business award from the Memphis Business Journal and has won numerous national awards for their performance, including the Xerox Gold Award of Excellence, President’s Club and Superior Service Award. Xerox has also recognized Hamilton and XMC for its outstanding achievements by naming them a Platinum Agency.
XMC has also been awarded “14 Star Top Performer” status by the Xerox Corporation, an award that recognizes superior performance and leadership among sales and services of Xerox products. Only three out of 400 agencies receive this designation.
XMC provides sales, leasing, service and supplies including printers, digital presses, digital copiers and full document solution systems. Xerox products are designed for both offices and production-printing environments. Xerox has expanded its portfolio of services and software designed to help companies boost worker productivity, enhance collaboration and reduce costs.
XMC has also managed to stay ahead by assisting companies to transition to paperless records through electronic document management. Their program, ScanSmart, allows a business to scan a document and, once scanned, the software indexes it and pushes it through the organization efficiently, effectively and quickly. Additionally, the software backs up the files to a secure hard drive, thus preventing the files’ potential loss and allowing the business to retroactively access the documents any time.
In following the needs of customers, XMC has recently launched postage machines and mailing solutions. Their FP postage meters, inserters and mailing software help small businesses save precious time and improve productivity.
The XMC leadership team brings a great array of talent and a real customer focus to the company’s helm. Hamilton is, of course, founder and chairman. Ben McCaghren joined him in 1991 as the first XMC employee; Ben is now the President of XMC Financial Services, LLC. Sean Seward, who joined XMC in 1993, is the President of XMC, Inc., and Steve Little is Vice President of Sales, having been with the company since 1994.
Headquartered in Memphis, XMC has offices in Jackson, TN; Savannah, TN; Nashville, TN; Chattanooga, TN; Little Rock, AR; Jonesboro, AR; Huntsville, AL; and Florence, AL. To learn more about XMC, call 888.814.3114 or visit xmcinc.com.
