For the ninth time in only eight years, California dealer WiZiX Technology Group put the finishing touches on a deal. It’s one of three in this week’s roundup; fellow dealer CDS registered its 16th acquisition, while business management solution specialist ECI Software Solutions also got into the act. We’ll kick off with WiZiX.
WiZiX Technology Group Inc. (WiZiX) is proud to announce the acquisition of Standard Business Solutions (SBS), a well-established office technology provider based in San Jose, California. This marks WiZiX’s ninth acquisition since its founding in 2017, strengthening its commitment to delivering top-tier office solutions across the Bay Area, Northern and Central California, and Northern Nevada.
Founded in 1980 by original owner Ed Foley and his sons, Chris and John Foley, SBS began as a family-run business. Initially, the Foleys operated out of their garage and were focused on repairing commercial typewriters. Over the past forty-five years, SBS has grown into a trusted provider of copiers and printers. Prior owners and sons Chris and John had served businesses throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Rooted in principles of reliability, integrity, and stability, SBS built a reputation as one of the region’s most dependable office technology providers.
“At WiZiX, we believe in building strong relationships—both with our customers and within our company. As a family-founded business ourselves, we deeply respect the legacy that the Foley family has built SBS into over the past 45 years,” said Gary Johnson, president and CEO of WiZiX Technology Group Inc. “This acquisition allows us to continue their legacy while expanding our service capabilities and their product offerings in the Bay Area.”
SBS has historically carried Canon, Kyocera (formerly Copystar), and Riso product lines, aligning closely with WiZiX’s existing portfolio of over six more unique copier & printer lines. As part of this acquisition, WiZiX will continue to service SBS’s Canon, Kyocera, and Riso products to ensure continued support for SBS’s loyal customers. All current SBS employees will be retained, and operations will be integrated into WiZiX’s Bay Area regional office in San Jose.
“For over four decades, our family has been committed to delivering reliable, high-quality service to businesses across the Bay Area,” said Chris Foley, former SBS co-owner. “We’ve always put our customers first and we wanted to ensure that whoever took the reins would do the same. WiZiX is the perfect fit. Their team shares our ‘service-first’ philosophy, and we know our customers will be in excellent hands with them.”
Additionally, John Foley, brother of Chris Foley and former co-owner, added that “Standard Business Solutions has always been about more than just office equipment—it’s about relationships, trust, and supporting the businesses that keep our community thriving. After three generations of family leadership, it was important to us to find a company that shares those values. WiZiX’s strong family foundation and commitment to service make this transition a natural one, and we’re confident that our customers will benefit from their expanded offerings and expertise.”
With this acquisition, WiZiX reinforces its mission as a service-first company dedicated to delivering innovative and cost-effective office technology solutions.
WiZiX continues to grow as one of the largest independent office technology providers in the Bay Area, Northern and Central California, and Northern Nevada. The acquisition of SBS marks another step in WiZiX’s ongoing expansion, following previous acquisitions of companies, including the most recent Carbon Copy and California Business Machines in 2024.
