M&A Roundup: WiZiX Records Eighth Acquisition in as Many Years; Laser Copy Technologies Swings Deal

Whether WiZiX Technology Group’s annual business plan includes a quota of at least one acquisition per year is unknown, but the California dealership kicked off its eighth year in fine fashion, as it brought Carbon Copy of Placerville into the fold.

In a separate deal, Kentucky-based Laser Copy Technologies snapped up the assets of The Office Shop in Tennessee. Here are the details:

Carbon Copy, founded in 1990 by Mark Scott—who shortly will retire—has built a strong reputation with over 220 years of combined industry experience, providing high-quality multi-function office technology devices and exceptional customer service. The company shares WiZiX’s commitment to delivering outstanding customer satisfaction and support.

Gary Johnson, WiZiX

“We are thrilled to welcome Carbon Copy into the WiZiX family,” said Gary Johnson, president and CEO of WiZiX Technology Group. “Their long-standing reputation for excellent service and customer care aligns perfectly with our mission of providing top-tier office technology solutions. Mark and his team have created a very strong connection with their customers. As with WiZiX, Mark believes in being a part of the community in which you do business and giving back whenever possible. Together, we will continue to serve businesses across Northern California with the same dedication to both service and community that has driven both companies.”

WiZiX, founded in 2017, has been in a period of rapid growth, becoming one of the largest independent providers of office technology solutions in Central and Northern California as well as Northern Nevada. With its headquarters in the Sacramento area, WiZiX has been named one of Sacramento’s Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies by the Sacramento Business Journal for the second consecutive year.

“Joining forces with WiZiX allows us to bring even more value to our customers,” proclaimed Mark Scott, president of Carbon Copy. “We’ve always prioritized respect, hard work, and humor in our business, and I’m confident that our shared values will make this a seamless transition for everyone we serve.”

Eric McIntosh, senior VP of WiZiX, added, “We are incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to carry forward the legacy that Mark and Janis Scott have built over the past 34 years”.

The seven prior acquisitions of WiZiX include Stanton Office Machines of Fresno, Scott Technology Group of Sacramento, Complete Business Systems of Livermore, Edward Office Systems of Sacramento, Intelligent Copier Solutions of Rohnert Park, Toshiba America Business Solutions of Reno, and California Business Machines of Fresno.
