M&A Roundup: DEX Does it Again, Clover Acquires Phoenix Direct

Dan Doyle Jr., DEX Imaging

There’s no truth to the rumor that Dan Doyle Jr. owns a customer appreciation card issued by his local chamber of commerce, offering him a free dealership when DEX Imaging buys 10. Given the volume of deals completed by the Tampa, Florida-based consolidation machine, it just seems that way.

Doyle, the CEO of DEX, finished off yet another acquisition with the addition of Business Machine Products Inc. (BMP) of Greensboro, North Carolina. Meanwhile, Clover Imaging Group obtained Phoenix Direct, an e-commerce fulfillment and marketing services firm based in Georgia.

DEX Imaging, the largest independent dealer of document imaging technology in the United States, added to its substantial portfolio by reeling in BMP. Founded in 1995 by Dan Tucker as an HP, Brother, Xerox, and Okidata dealership, BMP delivers a seamless alignment with DEX Imaging’s existing growth strategy, thus offering a perfect fit.

“The addition of BMP boosts DEX Imaging’s existing dominance in North Carolina, where we have had a stronghold since 2016,” Doyle said. “BMP customers will now not only reap the benefits provided by DEX Imaging’s vast service teams but will also have the advantage of choosing from a wider variety of best-in-class products and software solutions.”

The BMP staff will join forces with DEX Imaging’s as one cohesive unit.

Clover Imaging Group-Phoenix Direct

Clover acquired all the operating assets of Phoenix Direct to further its diversification and growth strategy. Founded in 2012 and located in Duluth, Georgia, Phoenix Direct offers direct-to-consumer brands end-to-end solutions, including a full suite of e-commerce fulfillment services; marketing, e-commerce, catalog, and web services; a 24/7 customer service call center; and a complete warehouse and distribution services.

Phoenix Direct’s deep expertise in e-commerce fulfillment complements Clover’s unmatched returns management, asset renewal, and redistribution model and serves as an entry point to bring Clover’s renewal and resale services to e-commerce brands and retailers.

“By joining Clover, we significantly expand our customer reach and distribution capabilities,” said Robby Yarbrough, CEO of Phoenix Direct. “We are excited to join Clover and look forward to contributing to the company’s growth. Their business model and acquisition strategy offer tremendous opportunity to our customers, partners, and employees.”

George Milton, Clover Imaging Group

“We warmly welcome the Phoenix Direct team to Clover,” said George Milton, CEO of Clover Imaging Group. “While we remain bullish and focused on our core imaging business in the Americas, the completion of this acquisition represents a step forward in our diversification strategy and the future of the Clover Imaging platform. We look forward to leveraging the expertise of both teams to enhance our current capabilities and accelerate growth.”
