As we head down the home stretch of 2021, the volume and frequency of industry acquisitions continue to grow. This week, three major dealers—Applied Imaging, Fruth Group and Donnellon McCarthy Enterprises—each added to their geographic holdings through deals.
Applied Imaging netted The Polack Corporation of Lansing, Michigan, while Fruth Group reeled in Yuma Office Equipment, a 2020 ENX Magazine Elite Dealer based in Yuma, Arizona. Donnellon McCarthy reached into Indiana with the acquisition of American Business Machines in Indianapolis.
Applied Imaging, one of the USA’s largest and most successful providers of office technology products and services, acquired The Polack Corporation effective Oct. 1. All of The Polack Corporation’s locations will now operate under the Applied Imaging brand.
The Polack Corporation is Michigan’s oldest office equipment dealer, founded in 1931 and led by fourth-generation ownership. The Lansing-based dealership served 14 counties in Central Michigan and represented Ricoh as its primary manufacturer. Applied Imaging has represented the Ricoh product line since the beginning, so the transition for The Polack Corporation’s customers will be seamless according to Applied Imaging’s CEO and President John Lowery.
“We have a thorough knowledge of the Ricoh product line and currently cover all the counties they operated in, so the transition for their customers will be extremely smooth,” said Lowery, Applied Imaging’s founder. “The only difference Polack customers will experience is now having access to the vast array of Applied Imaging’s products and services.”
Fruth Group-Yuma Office Equipment
Phoenix-based Fruth Group Inc. (FGI) has agreed to acquire Yuma Office Equipment (YOE), a Xerox, Ricoh, Lexmark dealer headquartered in Yuma, Arizona. Following Fruth’s most recent acquisitions of Prescott-based Computime and Phoenix-based Canyon Office Solutions, this acquisition will further strengthen Fruth’s position as one of the largest independent and most accomplished office solution providers in the southwest offering end-to-end services including cloud, cybersecurity, print and managed IT.
YOE CEO Daniel Bombard will remain with FGI to help continue the growth of the company’s footprint throughout western Arizona and southern California. “In my opinion, the acquisition will be great for everyone,” he said. “Our employees and shared customers of FGI and YOE will benefit greatly.”
Fruth Group CEO Charles Fruth notes, “We are excited about the people and the leadership at YOE. Daniel’s commitment to the community and the long-term relationships YOE has forged over the years present wonderful opportunities for our company. Our visions of the future are very much aligned, and we look forward to helping our new customers develop and refine their technology ecosystems.”
The Yuma branch location will officially commence operating as Yuma Office Equipment, a Fruth Group Company, Nov. 1.
