In a bit of a Texas two-step, a pair of Lone Star State dealers beefed up their regional footprints and product menus through acquisition. Datamax nabbed the copier division of Firmin’s Office City, while Complete Mailing Partners of Dallas diversified beyond postal machinery in obtaining Advanced Business Automation Solutions.

In acquiring Firmin’s Office City’s copier division, Datamax further etches the organization’s marketplace footprint in Northeast Texas and Arkansas, and reflects the Datamax’s Plus (+) Growth strategy moving forward.
“We’re extremely excited about the opportunities that exist with this acquisition, both for the Firmin’s copier customers and the employees that we welcome to the Datamax family,” Datamax Inc. President Barry Simon said. “We are firm believers in the idea of remaining green and growing, and this strategic move certainly echoes that corporate objective.”
Firmin’s Office City also serves clients in Longview and Rockwall/Terrell. While this agreement will not impact Firmin’s other initiatives (including office furniture, janitorial and breakroom equipment and promotional products), its copier customers can anticipate a complimentary array of multifunction copiers and printers, desktop printers, wide-format printers and digital production equipment.
Firmin’s Office City copier customers will now also benefit from Datamax’s strong presence in the solution-based workflow products and services that accompany today’s network-centric copier devices, as well as utilizing the organization’s core competencies which include print management, network management
The sales team in Texarkana will be led by 20-year industry veteran and Texarkana native Lee Wheelington. Wheelington, who joined Datamax in 1999, currently oversees the sales department at its Hot Springs office.
The newly expanded Datamax organization will bolster client opportunities in the Northeast Texas and Arkansas marketplace, as Datamax looks forward to establishing relevant business partnerships, fostering further cultural alignment and continuing its core mission of Creating Raving Fans.

Complete Mailing Partners-Advanced Business Automation Solutions
Prosperity Plus Management Consulting advised Bill Weir and Complete Mailing Partners (CMP) on the acquisition of Advanced Business Automation Solutions (ABAS).
CMP was founded in Dallas in 2007 by Weir. It is fully equipped to handle customer needs for postage meters, folders, folder-inserters, envelope addressing systems, automatic envelope openers and the supplies required to maintain them.
In adding ABAS, they now expand their offering to cover copy, print and wide-format printing. In describing the transaction, Weir was quoted as saying, “We are excited to expand our customer base to now include the FP-USA customers that were with ABAS as well as the new copy/print customers that will be coming along. Craig (Wasilchak, ABAS president) built a great company and we are honored that he selected CMP to carry the torch forward for him.”
The team at ABAS will be remaining on board going forward. Wasilchak will remain for a transition period before moving on to focus on the internet marketing company he recently formed. Of the transaction, Wasilchak noted, “I am excited for the future of our customers and employees under the CMP umbrella. Bill has built a great company and I am confident they will do great things.”
