This week Tony Nami, president of Prior & Nami Business Systems in Trenton, NJ discusses what’s hot and what’s not in his market. Prior & Nami represents Canon, Konica Minolta, Sharp, and Muratec.
What’s hot?
Nami: In addition to being a copier dealer we provide IT services. We’re upgrading a lot of PCs because of Windows XP not being supported any more. We have a lot of people upgrading to the newer version of Windows and that gets us involved in assisting some clients in updating their drivers and multifunction products. We are definitely seeing a lot of people scanning so we’re working with a lot of clients on setting their MFPs up for scans and setting up folders on a server if they don’t have an IT department. We’re talking about more information going to the cloud and a lot of the manufacturers are promoting that—Canon, Sharp, Konica Minolta.
What’s not?
Nami: For our smaller dealership compared to the mammoth guys out there, we would like to see our business push more into solutions selling. We’re doing it, but not doing it to the magnitude I’d like.
