One of the common denominators among millennials who have embarked upon a career in information technology is a passion early in life for video games. Whether it’s the Atari 2600, the Nintendo Entertainment System or a host of other console- or computer-based platforms, video games have long stoked the imagination of many an IT specialist during their formative years.
The same holds true for Dave Galioto, the CIO and a partner with Executive Computer Management Solutions Inc. (ECMSI), a managed IT service provider serving SMBs. Mario, Luigi and friends may have been the genesis of Galioto’s IT passion, but stomping Goombas soon gave way to a fascination with PCs that helped propel his family’s small business.
“My dad helped to grow that enjoyment into a love of technology and ultimately a career by teaching me coding, how to set up a new PC, and ultimately how to set up a basic network in our home,” said Galioto, a 2023 ENX Magazine Difference Maker.
For more than 22 years, Galioto has flexed his network engineering muscles for ECMSI. Initially a service manager, he helped assemble the firm’s technician staff while mentoring younger teammates—a practice he continues today. Enabling businesses to leverage technology to increase efficiency and spark profitability has long been a priority.
“I like to take a people-first approach to what we do,” Galioto said. “We are all just trying to do the best we can to provide the best service possible to our partners and great people are the most important part of that.”
It was his father, Tony, who provided Galioto with the groundings that led him down the tech path. It was the elder Galioto’s endless patience and allowing his son to experience trial and error that helped nurture the progress. On the professional level, it was ECMSI owner Ralph Blanco who saw potential in Galioto at an early age.
“[Blanco] took a chance on a 19-year-old kid with a love of technology and encouraged and supported my growth to where I am now,” he said.
Bold Ambitions
ECMSI enjoyed a wildly successful 2022, a year that saw the company bolster revenue by more than 20%. Galioto and Co. have laid the foundation for further success this year, with a new location on tap in a larger market. The mission for ECMSI is to install facilities across the entire state of Ohio during the next five to 10 years.
It will take a concerted team effort in order for ECMSI to realize its goals. “I will need to push myself to do more for my team as well as our partners,” Galioto added.
Away from the office, Galioto and his fiancé, Yvonne Berlin, enjoy traveling and experiencing different parts of the world. They’ve found a paradise oasis in Bermuda, with its pristine, sun-soaked beaches and rich history. Yankee baseball permeates his springs and summers, and when he’s not lifting weights, Galioto loves to absorb as many podcasts as possible.
