That Shane Nesbitt is a people person won’t draw any debate from those who work alongside or across the table from the ECMSI sales manager. There’s no carefully-crafted agenda lying just below the surface, either; he’s a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) personality who thrives on interaction. That simplicity is the key to a career that now spans more than 30 years in sales and marketing.
“I like to keep it simple and foster a true culture, not only in business but with our partners,” said Nesbitt, a 2022 ENX Magazine Difference Maker. As an entrepreneur in his own right—the owner of a thriving restaurant and bar—Nesbitt carries that philosophy through every aspect of his life.
It is at ECMSI that Nesbitt has truly found a home, leveraging the communications and technology background to create substantial growth since joining the company in 2018. In quarterbacking the sales unit, ECMSI has been able to meet year-over-year sales goals, but Nesbitt credits his team with making the task easier.
In ECMSI, he has found the optimal environment to produce that success. A quality culture, he notes, can have a salutary impact on the execution phase.
“I’ve always worked in tough environments,” Nesbitt added. “ECMSI’s culture and workforce are what makes the job the most enjoyable and has truly remained the moment I realized I’m where I’m supposed to be in technology.”
A graduate of Youngstown State University, Nesbitt has taken his cues from CEO Ralph Blanco, who provided him the opportunity to improve his IT knowledge base in addition to directing sales and marketing. Lauren Butka, the organization’s marketing and communications specialist, has been instrumental in yielding insight into tremendous growth opportunities while offering a fresh perspective on ECMSI’s sales and marketing processes.
Nesbitt is proud of his team’s ongoing success in hitting its numbers while exceeding department goals in the process. One such ambition is reaching the $10 million plateau in the next few years, and Nesbitt hopes to stay two steps ahead of ECMSI’s timetable.
As to how Nesbitt can build upon his game, he plans to, “Keep educating myself, keep within the group collaboration, delegating roles and responsibilities, and growing our team and culture,” he said.
Nesbitt and his wife, Pam, have been married for 16-plus years. He enjoys boating, fishing and hunting, as well as spending time with his parents. In addition to his restaurant, Nesbitt is active in the real estate market.
