Just when we thought we had this whole reimagined reality down cold, along comes another movement spurred on by the pandemic: the mass exodus of employees seeking greener pastures. There’s not a single person among us who begrudges anyone’s opportunity to improve their lot in life, but at four million job hops per month on average during 2021, who knew that so many Americans were so dissatisfied with their careers?
Loyalty is, of course, a two-way street. But as we take stock of reconfigured employee ranks and work to reestablish corporate culture, one can’t help but feel an even greater appreciation for those incumbent staff members who endured the tough times with us and kept moving forward despite the challenges and uncertainty. And we cannot emphasize uncertainty enough. That said, you can show your appreciation with non-monetary gestures when the bottom line—at least for the time being—doesn’t justify the resources to thank them adequately.

Submit Your Nomination for 2022 Difference Makers
For those unfamiliar with the program, nominations can be targeted at not only CEOs, VPs and managers, but every position within an organization where the candidate has demonstrated a willingness to put in the time and effort to bolster the cause of his/her employer, partners and customers. We have a soft spot for the less-heralded individuals who occupy a cubicle or have a makeshift office at home or in their cars. The single common denominator is the person’s ability to make a difference, something to which we all aspire.
The deadline for nomination submissions is March 12, so make sure to carve out the time to recognize those individuals who make the industry a better place to work.
