Last month was a good month if you’re into imaging technology and solutions with a few notable announcements. I’m sure you can make an argument that every month there’s a notable announcement, but sometimes, and all of us have to be honest here, some announcements carry more weight than others.
In no particular order, we had HP’s announcement of PageWide Technology and a new line of wide format products using the technology (see article in this week’s edition). Another notable announcement was OKI Data America’s A3 LED color MFP introductions, underscoring the fact that they are more than just another A4 manufacturer. (Be sure and check out this week’s article on how OKI Data Americas is ramping up its support for the BTA channel.) Also notable was Konica Minolta’s announcement that it was officially entering into a partnership with 3D Systems to market its 3D printers. An article delving deeper into the Konica Minolta’s partnership with 3D Systems will appear in next week’s edition of The Week in Imaging (TWII).
Also of interest was Pharos Systems introduction of Pharos Beacon, a cloud-based print management and optimization platform. The Beacon platform scales up and down and is expected to open up new channels for Pharos in SMB markets and with the dealers serving those markets.
As you go into the long holiday weekend, and I hope you have a good one, I encourage you to delve deeper into each of those announcements. All have the potential to impact your business whether or not you’re aligned with the OEMs or solutions providers making those announcements.
Thanks for reading.
