In last week’s column I wrote about social media mediocrity and how the office imaging industry, at least on the dealer side, hasn’t done a very good job of leveraging these new tools. Count me in with that group. I admit I could be doing a better job.
And after interviewing Kristie Kripotos of Coordinated Business Systems this week and learning how Coordinated is making the most of social media, I’m inspired to find the time to improve my social media efforts.
As a journalist I possess a heaping tablespoon of cynicism about a lot of things and even though I consider myself fairly progressive, I seriously need to get with the social media program. I was sharing my earlier cynicism about social media recently with my ex-wife, an editor of a dental industry publication that seems to be doing a superb job of engaging its customers on social media. She recommended I rethink my stance. She was at a conference recently and found herself Tweeting about something she’d heard and was excited to discover soon after that her Tweet was being re-Tweeted by one of her readers.
That’s just one small example, but I’m confident that those who are leveraging social media effectively, such as Coordinated Business Systems, have many more examples to share. I encourage you to read this week’s article about how Coordinated was able to accumulate more than 4,000 Facebook “likes”.
As for me and The Week in Imaging, please “like” us on Facebook and sign up for our Twitter feed. I hear stuff all the time, might as well share it with all of you sooner rather than later.
Thanks for reading.
