A couple of weeks ago Copier Careers released its 2013 Sales Representative Salary Survey. This is the third year the company known for its service technician, service manager/ops manager, and sales manager surveys, has engaged in such an ambitious undertaking.
This year’s survey revealed an increase in base pay and commission across all sales rep job titles in 2012 with the average base pay for all job titles a healthy $48,683 and the average commission $67,569. Combined, the average compensation for copier sales professionals has risen to $116,243, a $2,414 increase from the previous year.
The job titles tracked in the survey and the average incomes include Major Account Manager ($130,565), Account Executives ($88,881), National Account Managers ($121,474), MPS/Solution Sales Reps ($121,158), Senior Account Managers ($118,244), Named Account Managers ($107,623) , and Government Account Managers ($125,823).
It’s interesting to see that Copier Careers is tracking the salaries of MPS/Solution Sales Reps, which is a respectable income for a position that might not have been so prevalent a decade ago. In addition the survey finds that the increase in income is tied to increased quotas for Account Executives and Named Account Managers, two positions where Copier Careers performs quota tracking.
This year the average monthly quota for an Account Executive is $36,545, up from $34,231 in the previous survey. Meanwhile, Named Account Managers have monthly quotas of $57, 812, a $3,590 increase from the previous year.
Those numbers are another reason for optimism for the coming year and more evidence that this office technology business is still a pretty darn good business to work in.
