Can you believe Adele’s album 21 is still in the Top 10? I may have a reputation as a music snob, but I recognize greatness when I hear it. I even bought it on vinyl. It’s the Tapestry of the 21st century with so many great songs, including “Rumor Has It”. But I digress, sort of.
My subject is rumors so let’s return to the imaging and office technology world and one of those rumors currently knocking around. You know, the one about Sharp? Haven’t you heard, they’re leaving the copier business? Well, they’re not, it’s just a rumor. See the story in the features section.
I hear a lot of these rumors throughout the year, most don’t pan out into anything. You probably hear them all the time too. Whether it’s the one about a top executive leaving one of the major OEMs, a major OEM moving their headquarters from New Jersey to Pennsylvania, or an office technology testing company going down for the count or being sold, they’re all just rumors at this point even though we’ve seen over the years some of them become reality. You can choose to either pay attention to them or stick to business as usual. Me? I’m going to continue to do both because I love a good rumor.
Besides the Sharp story, don’t miss this week’s main feature, “What Manufacturers Expect from their Dealers.” It’s the follow up to last week’s piece on “What Dealers Expect from their Manufacturers.”
Finally, there’s still plenty of time to fill in your Elite Dealer nomination forms. I’m waiting.
