Between the Lines: A Big News Week

I hadn’t heard that rumor. The one about Lexmark exiting the inkjet business until I saw the news reports on August 29. I could swear I’d heard speculation from some of my analyst friends about the company, but no one ever alluded to Lexmark getting out of the inkjet business, at least not that I remember.

The other news is that of Agiliant, a company I’ve written about before, shifting its business model to consulting and direct business as opposed to partnering with office technology dealers across the country to deliver managed network services to small and mid-sized companies. I guess it’s not easy teaching an old dog new tricks.

Last week’s article on Sharp dispelling the rumors it was for sale generated some interesting e-mails and comments from readers. One of the more interesting perspectives comes from Tom Callinan of Strategy Development who has graciouslyallowed me to reprint his Strategy Development blog post in this week’s edition. He covers all the angles. You might want to add it to your holiday weekend reading list.

Finally, keep those Elite Dealer nomination forms coming. The September 7th deadline approaches.

New content this week includes:

  • Missing the Point with Sharp
  • What, Another Office Technology Industry Peer Collaboration Group?
  • Art Post on Earning Mental Toughness
  • Off the Record
  • What’s Hot & What’s Not?
  • August News Bytes
