Let me know when you’re tired of my pop music references. I tend to get on a rock and roll.
Two things are on my mind this week. First is encouraging you to click on through to the other side or to continue to finish the articles started here on The Week in Imaging Website. Most of you do, but it doesn’t hurt to remind. You can also check the Website www.theweekinimaging.com throughout the week as I now post articles and news items as I receive them starting on Tuesdays so there’s a chance you’ll see new content virtually every day of the week.
One of the more popular columns I’ve been publishing is Art Post’s column. You have to love the perspective of someone who is down and dirty everyday in the trenches. What I publish here is just a small sample of what Art writes about. If you’ve read his columns you know he’s not afraid to speak his mind even if some of the manufacturers he’s writing about think he’s out of his mind for doing so. I encourage you to sign up for his blog and get access to all the free content available to Print4Pay Hotel members. It’s another way to get your finger more deeply onto the pulse of what’s going on in the industry.
Second, I got a call from Toshiba’s PR agency last Thursday about the suspension of its National No-Print Day (NNPD) campaign, a campaign intended to promote responsible everyday office printing practices and reducing office waste along with providing simple tools and tips to reduce printing waste. (You can see the retraction release in News Bytes.) I thought the campaign was a great idea. What do I know? Apparently the printing and paper industries got their knickers in a twist over this and that was that. Heaven forbid there’s a movement that raises awareness of uncollected prints left in output trays or unnecessary printing. I hardly print anyway but now I wish I did so I could celebrate National No-Print Day the way it was supposed to be celebrated. Plus isn’t eliminating wasteful printing one of the benefits of managed print services? I’m still giving Toshiba extra credit just for trying to raise awareness in a creative way.
