Last week Kyocera hosted a Webinar for the official launch of a new business application, DMConnect, which allows Kyocera MFPs to function as an on-ramp for capturing hardcopy documents and processing that data according to an organization’s specific requirements.
With DMConnect, administrators can create customized workflows within their existing infrastructure using tools such as workflow wizard and workflow studio. That’s according to the Kyocera press release.
In addition, DMConnect offers advanced features, including multi-destination workflows, user group restrictions and searchable list fields. By customizing their document processes, businesses can reportedly streamline their operations to more easily comply with regulatory standards.
The multi-destination workflow capability is a nice enhancement in that it allows customers with multiple workflows to link those together by scanning one document one time. Those linked workflows can then be sent to different destinations together in one scan, making this a time-saving and productivity enhancing feature.
Other features Kyocera expects to be popular with dealers are Bates stamping, editing, and security.
The application also provides users with optional document enhancement features, such as OCR powered by Nuance OmniPage, allowing them to create searchable documents in PDF format using basic OCR.
Among the benefits of DMConnect:
- The ability to remove blank pages for cleaner documents and smaller file sizes;
- The ability to view and reset Bates counters for easy identification of documents;
- The ability to scan and distribute files through multi-destination workflows to boost productivity;
- The ability to ensure document security by restricting groups or departments via Active Director integration;
- Network Attached Storage (NAS) support for cost effective document management and storage
DMConnect is suitable for businesses of all sizes and works seamlessly with Kyocera HyPAS-enabled MFPs.
The application fits squarely between Kyocera’s DMS Link application and NSi AutoStore, which Kyocera also provides to its dealers. Whereas DMS Link’s target market is small to mid-size companies with paper-intensive environments and simple to moderate workflow requirements and NSi AutoStore is aimed at enterprise customers in mixed fleet environments with extensive workflow requirements, DMConnect’s target market is mid-size customers with complex workflow requirements.
Kyocera’s Product Marketing Manager Michele McDonald reports that DMS Link has been popular with dealers and that this new application kicks the original app up a notch. “It’s DMS Link on steroids,” she says.
DMConnect was developed based on feedback from Kyocera’s direct and dealer channels as well as customer requests.
As far as recurring revenue opportunities, McDonald says that will depend on the dealer’s model and how they set up their pricing structure. The app can lead to ongoing assessments and optimization and dealers have the option of going back to existing clients and add additional workflows.
DMConnect was actually launched to Kyocera’s dealers two weeks ago and Kyocera has spent the past few weeks conducting dealer Webinars and training field techs. The application has also been added to all curriculum offered to dealers through Kyocera’s Education Services department. They’ve also got online training videos for their dealer channel on the Kyocera channel on Youtube and on their Facebook and Linkedin pages. Dealers also have the option of two 30-day trials for their customers.
“This is one of our core products in our workflow optimization suite,” added McDonald. “We now have three different offerings for dealers. Most customer’s needs will be met by DMConnect and DMS Link while NSi Autostore is for customers with mixed fleets.”
DMConnect has an MSRP of $776 per device license, or an MSRP of $1,219 per device with OCR powered by Nuance OmniPage.
