Subject: Konica Minolta DI-2010 with Error Code C0500

Question: I tried to clear the error code C0500. I got into service mode, #3, and the next screen showed a fill in blank space and the top right corner showed “End” to exit. I don’t know what to input for these blank spaces. I didn’t see the Trouble Reset display. Please show me the correct way to reset this Konica Minolta DI-2010. Any help appreciated very much.

Answer: Sounds like it is time to get a manual. To get the Trouble reset I believe you need to do a warm reset by pushing the button near next to the CF card of the machine. Then when you see the circle on the LCD you need to push the 3 key to get the trouble reset. I did not look in the manual, this is from memory, but is close. Manuals can be found all over the internet for free to little cost. If this is the business you have chosen get the manuals for the machines you are going to support. Even if you only get a few for the different manufacturers it will be a start as most within that name will have similar resets.

Answer: On the DI-2010 there is a small hole on the right side of the display near the on/off switch. The reset button is in the hole. Watch the left edge of the display for a dot and when it appears press the number 3 to get into the service mode.

Question: As you know, I did all of that. After I pressed #3, I did not get the trouble reset screen but a screen asks for some type of input (Password code or some other input) and on the top right shows “End.” This is the part that I don’t understand. Can you give me more help on this?

Answer: The code is 00000000 or 12345678 or just press “End.”

Question: That works. I input all 8 zeros and pressed end, and that took it to the Trouble Reset screen. Thanks.

Subject: Sharp Color Copier MX2300n – Loose Sensor Arm
Question: A light grey sensor arm “came out with the copy” my customer says. It is 2 1/2″ or 7cm long and has a pincher-like snap at one end and the detector arm at the other. One of the snap sides broke off. I have no idea where this goes. The copier is now down with a “Remove Paper from center drawer” message. I tried that and looked everywhere, but no paper. It looks as if it hangs down. Never seen anything like it but it is assuredly a sensor of sorts. I’d like to talk to a tech that is familiar with this unit if I may. Thanks as always.

Answer: If you look closely at the exit unit at the center tray side you will see a black swivel piece just in front of the 2nd from the rear white roller. The arm clips to it. Hope this helps.

Question: Not sure if you’re looking at the exit side or the inside entry to the exit unit. Do you have a smart phone that I could send a picture to?

Answer: The gray arm attaches at the exit side in the middle. No smartphone but if you give me a heads-up I’ll keep an eye on my email spam.

Question: I found the black swing arm and snapped the piece in. It works perfectly. Althought it’s odd that they call the exit tray the “Middle tray.” Thanks again.  VICTORY!!!!!

Subject: Canon IR-5570 – Grainy Blacks
Question: I have an issue with a Canon IR-5570 and grainy, washed out blacks. I replaced both the charge and transfer corona units. I performed a DC-con clear, I turned off the potential control, I checked for broken HV connectors in the back of the MFP, I made sure the MFP is not in photo mode, and I grounded the bias connector on the developing unit and got a solid black, which leads me to believe that the HV board is good as well as the developing unit. Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue? Thank you for your input in advance.

Answer: Check the bias connection on the DV unit, little copper clips, vacuum the DV unit and clean the mag roller with a Scotch Brite pad. I’ve had the DV roller go bad on that model, so it could be a bad DV unit.  Also check the pre-transfer corona, it’s usually forgotten.

Question: Thank you. From what I have been told from a prior tech, the DV unit has been replaced; however, not the pre-transfer, so I will go out to the customer tomorrow and see if re-stringing that unit helps.

Answer: You may also want to check to make sure the post wires are the correct oxide and not gold. I have seen CQ issues from using gold wires in these machines.

Question: Thank you. They are 60um oxidized wires.

Subject: Ricoh AF3224C – Lead Edge Blur
Question: The first part of the copy is blurry as if the cleaning brush is running over it. It only happens on full color and only every second copy. The image is not stretched at all. It’s not the PCU as I just put a new one in. I replaced the cleaning unit clutch as well. Seems to be only the black that is blurred. I have swapped dev drive clutches. Many thanks in advance. And yes, I know all 3224C’s should be in a skip!!

Answer: I have been battling this issue for quite a while and have never found an answer. Luckily I have only one of these POS machines left in the field.

Question: It ended up being the transport assembly, part# B154-4801.
