Kansas City, MO (July 6, 2021) — The Business Technology Association (BTA) will hold the 2021 BTA National Conference, hosted by BTA West, BTA Mid-America and BTA East, Aug. 18-19, at the Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, California. Open to office technology dealers from across the country, the event will feature a keynote session on building high-performance teams with Brent Gleeson of TakingPoint Leadership; a featured session on the new normal with BTA General Counsel Bob Goldberg; a panel discussion on how to prepare for the eventual sale of your dealership; four additional educational sessions led by industry leaders; time to network with peers and exhibiting sponsors during breaks between sessions; and a dinner cruise on the Adventure Hornblower.
The event will begin at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 18, with opening comments and the keynote session, “Building High-Performance Teams: Leading Through Change With Passion & Resilience,” sponsored by Oberon Americas. The keynote will be led by former Navy SEAL and combat veteran Brent Gleeson of TakingPoint Leadership. A break, giving attendees time to visit with peers and exhibiting sponsors, will follow. Breaks between sessions on both days will also give attendees additional networking time. The featured speaker session, “The New Normal is Abnormal,” led by BTA General Counsel Bob Goldberg and sponsored by Sharp, will follow the break and wrap up the first day’s educational sessions.
At 6:30 p.m., attendees will take a short walk from the hotel to board the Adventure Hornblower, where they will enjoy an evening dinner cruise until 10 p.m. The 150-foot yacht offers magnificent views of the San Diego skyline from its sun deck and salons.
The second day of the national conference will begin at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 19, with breakfast, followed by opening comments, three educational sessions and breaks. The morning educational sessions: “Prospecting Past the Pandemic,” presented by Kate Kingston of Kingston Training Group; “Creating Raving Fans,” presented by Kevin Marshall of Copy Link Inc.; and “Five Lessons We Learned Changing a Company Culture,” presented by Chris Taylor of Fisher’s Technology.
Lunch will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Following lunch, Derek Shebby of Modern Sales Training will hold the final educational session, “Are You Onboarding Your Salespeople Incorrectly?” A break and the dealer panel, “How to Prepare for the Eventual Sale of Your Dealership,” moderated by Goldberg will follow. The panelists: Gary Johnson, president of WiZiX Technology Group Inc., Roseville, California; Joel Longtin, former owner of COUNSEL, Harlan, Iowa, and Midwest Office Automations, Omaha, Nebraska; and Mike McGuirk, president and equity partner of ProCopy Office Solutions, Tempe, Arizona.
Closing comments and exhibitor prize drawings will wrap up the event from 4:15 to 4:30 p.m. During this time, Clover Imaging Group will be doing a special drawing for The Jillian Fund, an organization focused on providing financial support to parents whose children require critical care for life-threatening illnesses. An additional attendee from the same member dealership is $99. Non-member dealer registration is $249 per person. A spouse or guest is $79 and a child under 12 is $50.
