Aston, PA (Oct. 31, 2019) — On Thursday, Sept. 19, KDI Office Technology, through its newly formed KDI Cares Foundation, hosted the Second Annual Pink Ball Golf Tournament at Ron Jaworski’s Ramblewood Country Club in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey. Between sponsors, donors, and golfers, $84,000-plus was raised for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
Mascots from Philadelphia area sporting teams, including the Phillies’ Phanatic, the Union’s Phang, and the Soul’s Soul Man, interacted with guests during the cocktail hour and were available for photos. Breast cancer survivor, Liz Jaworski, was the Key Note Speaker at the Pink Ball dinner.
“KDI’s passion around the issue is visibly and emotionally evident, revealing an unmistakable sense of community, family, and philanthropy,” said Jason Plaia, American Cancer Society northeast region director, community development. “Dollars raised through KDI Cares Foundation will help the American Cancer Society fund innovative breast cancer research, provide education and guidance to help people reduce their risk, and offer comprehensive patient support to those who need it most.”
“Your American Cancer Society remains in complete awe and wholeheartedly thankful for the absolutely wonderful support of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer by KDI Office Technology through their KDI Cares Foundation,” he added.
The KDI Cares Foundation Pink Ball Golf Outing honors the memory and legacy of KDI President/CEO Rick Salcedo’s brother-in-law, Tom Germanovich. It also was created to bring awareness to male breast cancer. Salcedo addressed the dinner guests.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to give my heartfelt thanks to everyone who made Pink Ball possible – all the sponsors, players, speakers, and volunteers for being part of today,” Salcedo said. “This day is meant to bring hope for a cure and hope for those still fighting. Together, we support his fight and her fight, so no one ever feels like they’re fighting alone.”
Employees at KDI regularly give back to the community through “fun”raising activities and are committed to ensuring no one fights breast cancer alone. On Oct. 20, employees participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk of Philadelphia and South Jersey. The company also holds various internal and external events throughout the year to help raise money for this beneficiary. KDI is a Flagship Sponsor of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
The company is in the process of planning its Third Annual Pink Ball Golf Outing which will be held on Sept. 24, 2020. Email for more information.
