The FD 87HDS provides that extra level of security by physically destroying discarded hard drives, with hardened solid steel cutting blades and unmatched commercial-grade features. The FD 87HDS features two right-sized shredding chambers to easily accommodate the two most common drive sizes for laptop and desktop computers. Users simply load a drive into the shredding chamber, close the metal safety shield, and press start. The rugged steel blades grind the hard drives into random sized pieces 1.6” wide and smaller for desktop drives, and .19” wide for laptop drives. The shredded pieces fall into a convenient molded plastic waste bin for easy disposal or recycling.
The user-friendly LED control panel shows real-time status of the shredding process, and features Auto Reverse to prevent jams, and Auto Cleaning to clear the blades of shredded particles. The unit is powered by a heavy-duty AC-geared motor and housed in an all-metal cabinet with casters for mobility. Two resettable LED counters, one for each shredding chamber, keep an accurate tally of drives shredded. Safety features include metal shredding chamber shields, a key lock to ensure authorized use, and a large centrally-located emergency stop button.
