January 26, 2016 — LOGICnow, the global market leader in integrated cloud-based IT Service Management (ITSM) solutions, today announced the introduction of enhanced remote management capability for the Mac platform and that it has acquired Mac-MSP, a leading provider of Apple Mac-centric SaaS tools for Managed Service Providers (MSPs). These two developments will enable MSPs using the LOGICnow platform to deliver best-in-class support for both Macs and PCs, helping them to differentiate their services and support clients more effectively.
The acquisition of Mac-MSP will extend to LOGICnow customers the same ability to secure, manage and protect the Mac environment as they currently have for PC systems through the company’s industry-leading ITSM cloud-based platform for comprehensive remote management and monitoring (RMM). LOGICnow’s intelligent platform is the most widely-trusted in the world, with more than 15,000 customers in more than 100 countries. The expanded support for Macs will enable MSPs to speed up troubleshooting, simplify installs and updates, fortify against security threats, boost productivity and ensure the full health of the Mac systems under their management.
The extension of the Take Control remote access feature within MAX Remote Management to cover the Mac will allow MSPs to offer the same levels of remote access support for Macs as they have long had for Windows-based environments. One click allows quick and easy remote access to any server or workstation directly from the MAX Remote Management dashboard to ensure fast and secure support, drive down costs, and remediate problems with minimal disruption to end-users. The solution also delivers reports that help MSPs to see where engineer time is being spent, giving them opportunities to optimize their internal efficiency.
“Boosting our Mac capabilities is a major focus for us in 2016,” said Stephen Garland, Senior Vice President of Engineering, LOGICnow. “Due to historically lower market demand, RMM platforms have rarely included any form of dedicated Mac management capability, with the result that MSPs have not been able to focus as closely on Macs as PCs and have had less capability to deliver responsive Mac support. However, as Mac popularity has grown, so too has the need for MSPs to be able to support them. We are therefore investing to ensure that our MAX Remote Management platform is the best platform in the industry for Macs, just as it is for PCs – differentiating not only us, but our customers.”
Traditionally mostly confined to creative industries, the Mac platform now occupies a larger and broader slice of the overall desktop and laptop market. It bucked the trend of industry decline in PC sales and rose from a 6.9 percent market share in October 2014 to 7.5 percent in October 2015, according to IDC. As this trend continues, MSPs will be under increased pressure to deliver equally-effective support capabilities for Mac-centric or mixed IT estates.
“Joining forces with LOGICnow was a natural choice,” said Brian Best, CEO & Founder of Mac-MSP. “. We share the same target audience and have the same ambition: to support MSPs’ growth and competitiveness by delivering products that can evolve and differentiate their businesses. So teaming up with LOGICnow to deliver the world’s best Mac support capability to the largest community of MSPs in the world is very exciting. And it’s important to understand that this is more than just a technology integration. Mac-MSP’s specialist knowledge and experience with Apple products will enable LOGICnow to continue to develop the MAX product set giving equal attention to Mac as to PC, equipping MSPs to do the same.”
Further features and enhancements will be announced throughout the year as additional Mac support tools are integrated into the LOGICnow platform.
