December 2015 – The Latino Community Development, Corp (LCD) is $15,000 short of their holiday goal to supply up to 1,000 families with Christmas presents and health care services at their ‘Santa Comes to Town’ event on December 19th.
The ‘Santa Comes to Town’ event is located at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Saturday, December 19 and helps less fortunate Latinos transition into the local Indianapolis community. Each participating family receives a turkey, personal care items, a small kitchen appliance and gifts for the children for the holidays. This event also includes a Holiday Health Fair where participates are given health-related services such as dental & health screenings, education, brochures and more.
With the event fast approaching, The Latino Community Development team is looking for help to make this event a success.
“We are looking for help in any way possible, whether it is by donation, sponsorship or volunteering,” LCD Executive Director Jenny Lauck said. “We are about $15,000 short of our initial goal, so we are asking anyone who can help, to help. We also need 400 people for both Friday, December 18 and Saturday, December 19 to help make this operation run as smoothly as possible. This event not only provides children with toys, but it also helps families to get medical care they need and cannot afford on their own.”
After fundraising $3,600 at Impact Networking’s Technology Showcase last month, LCD Board Member and Impact Partner and General Manager, Chris Zvirbulis, has gotten the company even more involved.
“Our Human Resources team has made contributing to LCD easy. Employees at Impact have been donating portions of their paycheck, as well as signing up to volunteer at the event.” Zvirbulis said.
