IRVINE, Calif. (April 22, 2015) – To commemorate Earth Day and to help U.S. schools operate more sustainably, Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc. today announces its Sustainable Schools Program. Under this program, Toshiba will donate its e-STUDIO™306LP/RD30 multifunction product (MFP), to the first 250 schools entering the company’s program. All public or private schools (kinder through 12th grade) throughout the continental United States, including the District of Columbia are eligible and may enter by completing the following online form at:www.business.toshiba.com/tssp beginning at 12:00 p.m. PDT Friday, April 24, 2015.
With the inclusion of erasable toner, Toshiba’s eco-sensitive MFP is capable of erasing images and text allowing paper to be reused up to an average of five times. This dramatic reduction in paper usage allows organizations the opportunity to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by up to 57 percent, as validated by the British Standards Institute, a global national standards organization.
To further minimize an organization’s carbon footprint, the e-STUDIO306LP/RD30 integrates bio-based plastics – which produce 20 percent less CO2 emissions during production compared to traditional petroleum-based versions. The printing product’s output – a distinctive blue – distinguishes itself from any other available device while serving to notify users that the page’s output is erasable.
The e-STUDIORD30 unit is where a page’s output is erased. By applying heat, the toner color is effectively removed, thereby erasing any text or images on the page.
For archival purposes, the eraser unit may also scan documents to a network file location or USB drive prior to performing the erasing.
Toshiba’s one-of-a-kind e-STUDIO306LP/RD30 has already garnered several industry accolades, including a Stevie Award®, Best in Biz Award, Gold Winner for Most Innovative Product of the Year and the METI Minister’s Award of Green IT.
“The e-STUDIO306LP/RD30 demonstrates how innovation and sustainability are at the core of Toshiba’s development process,” said Bill Melo, Toshiba America Business Solution’s chief marketing executive. “With myriad schools throughout the country facing budgetary cuts, it made perfect sense to offer them a product that can maximize their resources while operating more ecologically. A product like this will help organizations reduce their environmental footprint, not just on Earth Day but every day.”
Per contest rules, Rhode Island, New York, Florida, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and all other U.S. territories are not eligible to enter Toshiba’s Sustainable Schools Program.
