Last Year’s $50,000 Donation Helped 239 Veterans, Transitioning Troops and Spouses with Career Assistance and Confirmed 101 Veterans Hired in Civilian Jobs, Doubling Goal for 2014
BOSTON and ATLANTA – Nov. 11, 2014 – Continuum Veterans Foundation, helping returning troops find jobs in the IT industry, has once again donated $50,000 to Atlanta, Georgia-based Hire Heroes USA, an organization dedicated to creating job opportunities for U.S. military veterans and their spouses through personalized employment training and corporate engagement. With the same donation last year, Continuum-funded Veteran Transition Specialists have helped 239 veterans, transitioning troops and spouses with career assistance, and confirmed 101 veterans hired in civilian jobs from December 2013 through October, 2014, doubling the goal for this year.
Continuum Veterans Foundation was established in 2012 by Continuum, the technology industry’s only channel-exclusive provider of fully integrated managed IT services solutions.
“The Continuum Veterans Foundation committed to helping at least 50 veterans finds jobs in 2014 with its $50,000 donation last year, so we are delighted to have doubled that goal with still time remaining,” said Brian Stann, President and CEO of Hire Heroes USA. “The commitment of Continuum to support our veterans in their transition from military service to the civilian workforce is commendable, and we hope that other companies around the country follow in their lead this Veteran’s Day. We look forward to continuing this important work with the donation from the Continuum Veterans Foundation again this year.”
Hire Heroes USA’s primary goal is to lower the veteran unemployment rate, measured by the organization’s ability to help veterans and their spouses gain employment by empowering them with the skills to successfully represent themselves on their resume, when delivering their value proposition and during interviews. Hire Heroes USA assisted veterans with career transition primarily through its online and telephone coaching program as well as its in-person Warrior Transition Workshops. Hire Heroes USA joined Continuum at the company’s annual user conference, Navigate 2014, September 21 – September 23, 2014 in Boston, to work with its Managed Services Providers (MSP) partners in hiring veterans.
“Veterans are uniquely skilled to work in civilian jobs, and the team at Hire Heroes USA does a phenomenal job of effectively training veterans in the skills of self-marketing, then networking them into great jobs with great companies,” said Michael George, CEO at Continuum. “We are delighted that our investment has helped so many veterans transition to non-military jobs. As Continuum continues its rapid growth with the opportunities in managed IT services, we look forward to having even more veterans join our team and encourage other growing companies to do the same.”
Continuum is the sole donor to the Continuum Veterans Foundation with a percentage of revenue from its Service Desk going to the Foundation. Continuum also provides preferential consideration in hiring veterans at the company. For a listing of current job openings, visit: http://www.continuum.net/company/careers.
