Document Management Solution and Centralized Print Facility Improve Printing Across Seven Schools
Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta) today announces that Whitman Hanson Regional School District in Whitman, MA has implemented a print solution from Konica Minolta and Collegiate Press, a local facilities management provider, to standardize printing across the district. Leveraging EFI Digital Storefront from Konica Minolta, the complete solution helped the district streamline print job submissions and eliminate hours of time used by educators and staff on the preparation of printed materials.
With the help of Collegiate Press, Whitman Hanson established the “SmartCentre,” the school district’s central print facility. Collegiate Press equipped the SmartCentre with two Konica Minolta monochrome production print systems to manage printing for the seven schools in the district, and also improve output speeds and quality. Driving the operation and success of the facility is EFI Digital StoreFront from Konica Minolta. Delivering streamlined job management, the solution enables educators and staff to create customized user profiles and send print jobs to the SmartCentre for same-day turnaround. A district-wide, web-to-print solution, Digital Storefront accepts print job submission from any computer within the district, and also supports automatic PDF conversion, a library of pre-defined job formats, complex job submissions, and on-screen proofing. The SmartCentre now turns around all submitted jobs from the Digital Storefront within four hours and delivers twice a day to all seven schools.
“Collegiate Press proposed a solution with Konica Minolta technologies that not only improved our workflow, but essentially created an entire culture change across all our schools with regard to technology,” says Craig Finley, Assistant Superintendent, Whitman Hanson Regional School District. “Our integrated Konica Minolta document management solution allows teachers and staff to spend more time focusing on educating, and less time on printing and materials prep.”
The Konica Minolta production print systems at the SmartCentre permit a host of new output capabilities for Whitman Hanson including: high-end finishing, folding, stapling and cover insertion. With a dedicated Collegiate Press operator at the SmartCentre, the machines are continuously working at peak performance for consistency, reliability, and reduced downtime. The district has eliminated reliance on outsourced print vendors with the new capabilities. In addition, Collegiate Press set up 12 Konica Minolta color and monochrome bizhub® MFPs throughout the schools for immediate access and smaller print jobs.
“Whitman Hanson’s document management solution has improved the way they work and also helped them realize true cost savings,” says Kevin Kern, senior vice president, Marketing, Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. “With the help of Collegiate Press’ facilities management expertise, the school district has implemented a solution that will continue to grow and manage their printing to improve efficiency and quality standards.”
