Growth-Minded GoodSuite Acquires Strata IT as it Continues Down Expansion Path

Dan Strull, GoodSuite CEO

Dan Strull has growth on his mind, and the CEO of GoodSuite sees managed IT as a prime gateway. Thus, it comes as no surprise that the Southern California dealer’s latest acquisition will help facilitate that plan.

Woodland Hills-based GoodSuite, a premier provider of critical and managed business systems, announced it has acquired Strata IT, a Los Angeles-based provider of enterprise-level managed IT services. The acquisition expands GoodSuite’s range of managed IT services to a broader business audience and new regions.

A $5 million dealer prior to the pandemic, Strull expects his company to eclipse the $10 million mark by the end of 2022, and he’s putting the finishing touches on an acquisition of a copier dealer as well. In short, he notes GoodSuite is in “acquisition mode.”

Strull met the owners of Strata IT roughly 10 years ago and indicated an interest in obtaining the company. Talks heated up earlier this year, and the deal was finalized on Sept. 1.

The move comes a little more than a year following the dealer’s acquisition of Select Business Systems, the firm’s largest addition to that point. A Sharp dealer, Select Business Systems offered a wide variety of products, services and solutions including managed IT.

In many ways, the Strata IT acquisition is equally as important, for it gives GoodSuite the IT proficiency it had been seeking. “We do a lot of IT services and have offered it for 10 years; we’ve been most serious about it the last five years,” Strull said. “(Strata) has been doing it for 14 years and they understand the tech stack better and have more experience with the technology. This deal allowed us to become very mature overnight, and now we feel like we have first-round draft picks at every position.”

GoodSuite’s managed IT services include help desk, onsite, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, cloud migration and VoIP.

The integration of Strata IT’s existing business and customer base into GoodSuite’s operations highlights the company’s strategic evolution from an office copier company to an enterprise-level business services provider, offering multifunction printers and copiers, IT services, managed print services, digital signage, collaboration, and interactive display systems, VoIP services, and other essential business systems.

“The Strata IT acquisition supports our strategic vision to become an enterprise-level IT services provider, without impacting our managed print and other services programs,” Strull said. “The integration of Strata IT’s experienced team, together with GoodSuite’s award-winning customer service teams and reliable infrastructure allows us to bring a boutique level of service and support to a broader customer base. We’re excited about the future as we continue GoodSuite’s evolution into a formidable business services provider through acquisitions and organic growth.”

GoodSuite is also seeking to become more diversified in its portfolio, either through increased IT competencies (cloud, Azure, backup and recovery) or through the addition of furniture, among other things.

“Clients want us to bring our same level of service over to the next cubicle in their office,” Strull noted. “We feel like we can be a player for virtually every office in our area.”
