The Business Technology Association (BTA) will hold its 2022 BTA National Conference, hosted by BTA Mid-America and BTA East, June 7-8 at the Fairmont Chicago — Millennium Park in Chicago.
Open to office technology dealers from across the country, the event will feature: a keynote session on how today’s buyer has changed by Marcus Sheridan of Marcus Sheridan International Inc; a featured session on embracing the visual revolution with Zach Basner of IMPACT; a vendor panel on the best course of action for continued success; a dealer panel on succession planning in a multigenerational business; a dealership panel on creating the business of tomorrow; two additional educational sessions led by industry leaders; time to network with peers and exhibiting sponsors; and a dinner cruise on the Chicago River.
The 2022 BTA National Conference will begin at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, with opening comments and the keynote address, “The Digital Consumer: How Today’s Buyer Has Changed & What Your Business Must Do About It,” led by Sheridan. During the keynote, attendees will: Learn about the shift that has happened with today’s buyer and what that means for sales and marketing departments going forward; discover exactly what types of content and messaging move the sales needle and truly get results; and find out how video and visual learning is impacting the buying process and what organizations must do to be seen as “media” companies.
A break, giving attendees time to visit with peers and exhibiting sponsors, will follow the keynote. Breaks between sessions on both days will also give attendees additional networking time. The featured speaker, Zach Basner, will follow the break with his session, “The Visual Sale: How to Embrace the Visual Revolution & Create a Culture of Video in Your Organization.” He will show attendees powerful stories of how B2B and B2C companies are using video to not only build their brands but significantly drive sales and marketing revenue in the process. Basner will also discuss exactly how any organization, regardless of size, can develop its own culture of video and experience incredible results. The welcoming reception will follow Basner’s presentation until 7 p.m., wrapping up the first day of the conference.
The second day of the conference will begin at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, with breakfast, followed by opening comments and the dealer panel, “Keeping It in the Family — Succession Planning in a Multigenerational Business,” moderated by Todd Lee of Amur Equipment Finance. The panelists from each dealership will include leaders from two generations: José López and Mallory López of Barlop Inc., Miami, Florida; Bill MacDonald and Ashley Whisonant of Capital Office Products Inc., Columbia, South Carolina; and Dale Fowler and Brantly Fowler of Zeno Office Solutions Inc., Midland, Texas.
Two educational sessions and breaks will follow. The sessions: “Finding & Retaining Employees in a Tight Labor Market,” with Chip Miceli of Pulse Technology; and “Maintain or Migrate: What Do We Do With Culture Now?” with Chris Taylor of Fisher’s Technology.
Lunch will be held from noon until 1 p.m., followed by the dealership panel, “Making an Impact: Creating the Business of Tomorrow,” moderated by Karlee Travis of Impact Networking. The panelists will include members of the Impact Networking team: Frank Cucco, Fred Barrionuevo, Patrick Layton, Jeff Leder and Mike Lepper. Exhibit time and a special presentation from Microsoft will follow the panel.
At 3:45 p.m., the final session will be held. The vendor panel, “’Where Do We Go From Here?” will be moderated by BTA General Counsel Bob Goldberg. The panelists will include representatives from five manufacturers: Tami Beach of HP Inc., Laura Blackmer of Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. Inc., Jim Coriddi of Ricoh USA Inc., Mike Pietrunti of Xerox Corp., and Óscar Sánchez of KYOCERA Document Solutions America Inc. Closing comments and prize drawings will wrap up the educational portion of the conference from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Then, from 7 to 10 p.m., attendees will enjoy a dinner cruise on the Chicago River aboard the Odyssey, a glass-enclosed vessel that offers marvelous 360-degree views of Chicago’s famous architecture.
