Des Plaines Office Equipment (DPOE) acquires Chicago-based Kee Business Systems; fourth acquisition in last four years for growing Elk Grove company

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL, ISSUED JUNE 3, 2010 - Des Plaines Office Equipment (DPOE), the Chicago area's leading provider of office equipment solutions since 1955, today announced the acquisition of Kee Business Systems of Elk Grove, IL, the fourth acquisition that DPOE has completed within the last four years.

Chip Miceli, President of DPOE, did not disclose the terms of the acquisition but said that Kee Business Systems performed in the $1 million range in annual sales. Miceli further noted that the recently-acquired company, which was founded in 1957, has had a strong presence in the Chicago market as a dealer for Konica Minolta office equipment. Kee sold and serviced copiers, printers and facsimiles, and Miceli noted that a large portion of the company's business model focuses on service.

DPOE will close the Kee Business Systems office at 1400 Landmeier Road, Elk Grove, and move the operation into DPOE's corporate headquarters at 1020 Bonaventure Avenue, also in Elk Grove. Under the terms of the acquisition, DPOE will hire seven former Kee Business Systems employees, including the company's President, Jeff Kee, who will join DPOE in a sales capacity.

This acquisition interested us for a number of reasons, Miceli said, noting, They are a strong, established presence in the Chicago market, having been in business almost as long as we have at DPOE. Also, they focused on a product line different from the ones we carry, so that this will give us the opportunity to expand our offerings into Konica Minolta and further strengthen our marketshare.

He continued, Jeff Kee and his team are well-respected in this industry and this market, and we are delighted to have them join the DPOE family.

Miceli noted that his company is continually expanding its product and service specialties, having developed a specialization in Managed Print Services and IT, as well as traditional services offered in his industry.
